January 2014 – This month, 60 teachers  and school leaders came together for a day rich with  learning and professional growth at the 2015 Annual Hidden Sparks retreat held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. What Aliza Scharf,  teacher at Shulamith School for Girls of Long Island, described as an event that is, “the highlight of her year,”  encompassed a day of sessions that ranged from developing metacognitive workshops for faculty to looking at student work and modifying chumash lessons, led by Hidden Sparks’ educational leadership. Participants in the HS School Leader program  benefited from a targeted session for administrators facilitated by Dr. Rona Novick, focusing on the common challenges of leadership. This exceptional group of educators left the day re-invigorated in their passion for helping each student realize his or her full potential, and with a tool box of strategies for them to implement in their school.
